KEATON'S PROFILE

I began my yoga practice in sincerity at the age of 16. In January 2018, I started working at a local yoga studio in order to be in the world more fully, gain access to authentic yogic practice, and deepen my understanding of yogic philosophy. During this time, I studied texts such as the Bhagavad Gita, and began writing about yoga and philosophy for high school English projects.

ECOSYSTEMS OF CARE

I want us to use our gifts to uplift each other, to give back to one another as we are nourished by this healing and creative work. We deserve regular access to this kind of care so we can keep growing as people and as practitioners.

NATURE-ART CIRCLE REFLECTION

There are few things in my life that I have created that have taken on the quality of being bigger than me, but these Nature-Art circles are one of them. This circle was full of family and friends who were willing to be creative in nature and try something new with me. When I really tap into how this experience made me feel, and what we were able to tap into as a group I am overwhelmed with beautiful emotions. I am in awe, disbelief, reverence and pure hope that reaches all the way to my toes. I am so happy to offer this service and it feels in a way that I have been training for it all my life.

NATUREMBODIED COLLECTIVE LP

Collective is word that comes up a lot for me because it helps me see myself as something plural. When I share something to a collective, it also feels like it comes from a collective.

THIS SEASON IN NATURE ARCHIVE

We are in a collective fire season (summer) that asks us to find action and adventure to stoke our potentially more energetic and curious spirits. Creation and quick connections are abound as the plants around us flower and reproduce. Just like the flowers bear fruits, we to can master the art of making something and then taking stock as we see how one ending spitballs into infinite new beginnings.

CHILD MALTREATMENT: EMOTIONAL ABUSE

Emotional abuse is an extremely common and potentially fatal form of child maltreatment. A recent study featuring over 43,000 Canadians self-reporting on their own maltreatment under the age of 15, concluded a staggering one third of the individuals were exposed to non-physical abuse and 98.7% of that one third, specifically noted emotional abuse (Statistics Canada, 2023). Childhood emotional abuse survivors are more than twice as likely to attempt suicide (University of Manchester, 2019). Additionally, it is well documented that childhood emotional abuse victims are predisposed to serious cognitive disorders and adverse biobehavioural patterns (Al Odhayani et al., 2013).

PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING AND LEARNING

My philosophy is simple and approaches the child, family, community, environment and my own role with the reverence and gravity they require. I speak the language of astrology, like any language, my mind thinks along the lines of its unique parameters. When I look at young children, I see them as wide, shining constellations, families as their essence-imbuing ruling planets, educators as the perspective from earth that enlightens our observations and makes way for the sky to be divided into developmental areas. Our community is naturally made of the relationships or aspects between various planets, constellations, and areas of sky where together we create an impact. The environment is the ever-patient cycle of time, the movement we see happen rhythmically in the sky that we bond with to move more wisely. We are so integral to one another, and as I see how all of us represent the interconnecting pieces that are set aglow in our celestial universe,  I look to each of us with the same wonder, hope, and curiosity that is ignited in me when I look up at the night sky.

Why This Season?

This Season is a seasonal newsletter from Naturembodied, sent four times a year as each season wraps up.

It is guided by the same values that shape all of my work — Nature, Art, Community, Education, and Reflection. These values remain steady even as the forms of the work change.

Each value becomes a section of the newsletter, helping me stay accountable to what I want to uphold and ensuring that my art and creative expression practice remains authentic and fulfilling.
